What is hall staff?
We are excited that you are interested in Residential Living Hall Staff. Hall staff is a academic year live-in position in the University residence halls, where you will help students transition into Cal, put on programs and events, and build communities, to name a few. Joining hall staff is an opportunity to create change, positively impact the lives of students, transition them into UC Berkeley, and learn about yourself.
The Office of Student Development: Residential Living is committed to creating positive residential communities through excellence in academic integration and personal development opportunities for students. Our department values the diversity of ethnicity, culture, gender, experience, age, politics, religion, sexual orientation, physical ability and academic pursuit. We are looking for individuals with a strong commitment to community living and to serving the needs of a diverse student population.
What do I get out of it?
Being on hall staff is a rewarding experience! Some
of the things you gain: leadership experience, working with
a team, planning programs and events, conflict mediation skills,
working on social justice issues in the residence halls, personal
growth, building lifelong friendships, compensation of room
and board for the academic year, and of course a warm fuzzy
feeling that you are making an impact in someone's life!
What are the positions available?
The positions available for the 2008-2009
Academic Year are: Resident Assistant, Theme
Program Advisor, and Apartment Assistant. For information
on new Resident Assistant and Theme Program Advisor, click
on "New Staff Applicants" on the left sidebar. For
information on Apartment Assistant positions, click on the
"Apartment Assist." on the left. The applications
for these positions are due on December 3, 2007.
If you are a current hall staff member, your
applications for returning positions or new PA positions
are also available, by clicking on "Returning Hall Staff"
link on the left. These applications are due on January
15, 2008.

how to apply. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
Who can apply?
We encourage anyone to apply! The only requirements
are that you:
Are a student in good standing with a 2.3 GPA minimum.
Have full time academic status during employment.
(Preferred, but not required) Lived in a residence hall or
other group living experience.
